FEB. 2022, ST. LOUIS – EmpowerMe Wellness, one of the nation’s largest providers of therapy services to senior living communities, has announced an innovative new internship program for university students nearing completion of degree programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology. Combining clinical educational and hands-on training experiences, EmpowerMe’s new University Relations department partners with accredited therapy schools to enhance training curricula while improving the lives of residents in senior living communities.
With two different levels of clinical rotation internships available, EmpowerMe’s program provides students with tech-enabled, hands-on clinical training experiences with EmpowerMe’s experienced therapy team members in senior living communities across 39 states. In some communities, students will also have the opportunity to observe diagnostics, pharmacy, and primary care practices in action as well, setting EmpowerMe’s program apart from similar internship offerings. Participation may lead directly to full-time job opportunities at EmpowerMe. More information is available at empowerme.com/students.
“In addition to the huge number of different communities students can work in, what makes this program special is the opportunities it creates for students to learn by being directly involved in personalized care for seniors,” said Lisa Meyer, Senior Vice President, University Relations. “We encourage all therapists to establish close relationships with the individuals they are treating. This has proven to be beneficial not only for the senior living residents we serve, but also for our therapists, who are committed to helping seniors succeed in their healthcare goals.”
With nearly 3,000 compassionate, experienced clinicians and professional team members providing best-in-class integrated healthcare services to senior communities nationwide, EmpowerMe Wellness offers integrated therapy, diagnostic, pharmacy, and primary care services focused on improving the health and wellness of seniors.
“Therapy is a demanding profession, and achieving a positive work-life balance is essential,” said Meyer. “Working in a senior living community offers many advantages for those who want to be part of a truly caring community that values personal development and wellness, flexible schedules, professional growth, and lasting relationships. Students who share our passion for improving the lives of seniors will find providing therapy for individuals at senior living communities to be a rewarding career choice, especially with the person-centered approach embraced by EmpowerMe Wellness.”
